Building Inspection
Building inspections are required at each stage of the building process. Request an inspection by 4:30 p.m. on the day prior to which you want an inspection. Call (208) 612-4020 to request an inspection. You will need to give the type of inspection being requested, the address and permit number for the inspection site, as well as indicating whether you want an AM or PM inspection, if you have a preference. You may also wish to leave your name and a contact phone number in case there is a problem.
Stages for residential building inspections are as follows:
- Footing (possibly preceded by a soil investigation, depending on location)
- Foundation
- Sheathing
- Framing
- Insulation
- Sheetrock
- Final
Stages for commercial building inspections are as follows:
- Soils investigation
- Footing
- Foundation wall
- Masonry or CMU (special inspections for concrete and masonry are performed by an outside testing agency)
- Welding
- Framing
- Sheathing
- Roof and walls
- Insulation
- Sheetrock
- Final
