Planning & Zoning Commission Members

The Planning and Zoning commission members are appointed by the Mayor with confirmation by Council. Their duties are defined by Title 67, Chapter 65 of the Idaho Code. Generally, these duties consist of making recommendations to the City Council respecting comprehensive planning, zoning and subdivision regulations. This Commission acts in this statutory capacity as Planning and Zoning Commission under Idaho Code with respect to zoning and planning in the City proper. The term of office is three years.

Meetings are ordinarily held on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall. Work meetings are generally held on the third Wednesday, on an as-needed basis. Please contact the Ammon City offices for details concerning work meetings dates and times. All Planning and Zoning and work meetings are open to the public.

Current Planning and Zoning Commission members:

Rick ButlerRick Butler; member since 2007.
Rick was born and raised in Idaho Falls and has lived in Ammon with his wife and family since 1983. He is currently employed with the Idaho Cleanup Project at that Idaho National Laboratory, and has worked at the site since 1982. He is an avid skier and has been a ski instructor for many years. Rick enjoys the quality of life in Ammon and Eastern Idaho, and, through his service on the Planning and Zoning Commission, hopes to be able to contribute to maintaining the quality of living we enjoy.

Cindy DonovanCindy Donovan; member since 2002.
Cindy’s original interest in Planning and Zoning was in regards to a hearing being held on development of property across the street from her home.  She found the process interesting and began attending Planning and Zoning and City Council meetings.  After a few years of attendance and several requests to join the process she joined the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2002.
Cindy is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and moved to the area in 1993 looking for a better quality of life.  She lives in Ammon with her husband and has a grown son who is currently serving in the Navy.

Tom HunsakerTom Hunsaker; member since 1999.
Tom has been an Ammon resident since 1997. He currently resides in the vicinity of Sandcreek Middle School and Hillcrest High School.

 

 

Greg MaeserGreg Maeser; member since 1997.
Greg Maeser has served on the Ammon Planning and Zoning Commission since 1997. Prior to that, he served on the Ammon City Council for two terms including 7 years as Council President. He has also been a member of the Ammon Urban Renewal Agency since 1996.
Greg is an attorney and real estate investor. He and his wife Jerilyn currently reside in Ammon.

Steve RichardsSteve Richards; member since 2008.
Steve Richards has lived in the Ammon/Idaho Falls area since 1988 except for three years spent in the Seattle area while in law school.  He and his family have lived in Ammon since 2001.  Steve has been an attorney in private practice in Idaho Falls since 1996.  He is a graduate of The College of Idaho and Seattle University School of Law.  He and his wife are the parents of three children and they enjoy many of the outdoor activities of Eastern Idaho, particularly going for walks and bike rides in Ammon, snow skiing, boating, camping, and working in their yard.  Steve was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2008.

Kurt RolandKurt Roland; member since 2009.
Kurt is a partner in a local engineering firm.  He has 22 years experience in engineering and land surveying.  He was raised in the area and lives with his wife and three children.  He was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2009.

Quinn SimmonsQuinn Simmons. Member since 2007.


Robert TaylorRobert Taylor; member since 2009.
Robert was raised in Rexburg.  He is a teacher, having taught junior high math for 34 years.  He is currently retired and travels often with his wife.  He and his wife have four grown children and seventeen grandchildren.  He has worked in engineering and for the US Geologic Survey and volunteers with AARP as a tax aid.  He was appointed to the Planning and Zoning Commission in 2009.
